Between the Wires

San Francisco has an enormous woven web of wires hovering high above the streets, helping to make the city move.  Even though I am proud to live in a city that is so eco forward, emission free transportation has little to do with beauty.  It may be the one drawback from completely enjoying a full-on blue sky in the city.

This morning I came across a different set of wires, swinging from building to building interconnecting a small street in North Beach.  From these wires, a bit of nostalgia lingered into my thought bank, and left me with a feeling I can only compare to losing myself down small streets in europe.  If only for that moment, wires flinging under the blue sky, were not the worst thing that could impede my view in this city.

I departed my everyday and ended up in this place…

Forty feet underground with no ocean current to sweep me away,  I was forced to explore these deep crevices with utmost caution. Shifting the air in and out of my lungs, balancing my body through small enclosures, and kicking my legs just enough to reach the appropriate depth without hitting a stalactite/stalagmite formation, I slowly propelled myself through the cavern.  In this dark state, surrounded by water forming pressure on my body, I was able to only concentrate on MY breathing… inhaling compressed air, and exhaling all that has been ailing me.  Over and over again, the bubbles floated upwards and were caught between limestone fissures, never to escape again and find their way back into my atmosphere. I left them there for safe keeping, as I emerged a new being.

Gaucho featuring Tamar Korn

Such an amazing voice exhaled out of this little lady’s lungs, the whole audience palpitated as her throat quivered.
